I Got Shoes by Sweet Honey on the Rocks CD J782.42 Sweet

#11 Shoo Fly, Don't Bother Me - well loved in preschool storytime.  We waved on our hands on the "shoo fly part" and clapped our knees on the "I feel, I feel, I feel" - this is a great one for scarves as well

#5 Bean Bag Alphabet Rag - this can be adopted for scarves

#1 List of Dances -song with a variety of movement activities
#6 Your Face Will Surely Show It - a version of "If You're Happy and You Know It", goes well with a storytime about emotions.

#1 The Tempo Marches on - Marching then it gets faster and faster
#2 Knuckles Knees - movement similar to head, shoulders, knees and toes
#3 Spin Again - a movement song that entails (you guessed it) spinning
#6 My Ups and Downs - they love this one! We move up and down
#9 My Bonnie - a great song for phonological awareness for 4 and 5 year olds, they move their hands up on b sound and down on the next b sound (the booklet insert explains the game)
#11 Color Game - combines rhymes and colors
#13 Spin Again...Again -another fun spinning song
#14 There's Nothing Wrong Song - movement song with jumping, stamping, spinning, and crawling

Under a Shady Tree by Laurie Bernker (CD J782.42 Berkner) - I like #12 - my energy. Lots of movement

Yummy Yummy by the Wiggles (CD J782.42 Wiggles)
#1 Hot Potato - a fun song to do with shakers, would also go well with a food theme
#2 Shaky Shaky - the title gives it away - great for shakers
#5 Captain Feathersword - a great dance song for those pirate themes
#9 Come On Let's Jump - a very brief movement song about jumping
#13 Monkey Dance - a movement song for zoo animals
#16 Numbers Rhumba

Morning Magic by Joanie Bartels (CD J782.42)- I like #6 - wake up toes - a great movement song with lots of fun repetition.  Very lively

Jim Gill Sings the Sneezing Song and Other Contagious Tunes (CD J782.42 GILL) - This CD has some tunes I think would be fun for toddlers through elementary school. I've listed my favorites below and how I will (or have already) use them

  • Hands Are for Clapping - easy movement song for a storytime or a movement program
  • Alabama, Mississippi - easy to follow song, can use shakers with it, it covers loud and soft
  • Silly Dance Contest- Fun movement song with a freeze element - covers concept of fast and slow
  • Spaghetti Legs - a fun movement song
  • Leaky Umbrella - another song with naming of body parts - this is a great song for a weather storytime

  • I'm in the Mood - Great for movement - singing, clapping, whistling, stomping
  • Something in My Shoe - An interactive, cumulative song
  • Let's Do the Numbers Rumba (this would be a great flannel board song, great for numbers)I've also used it with shakers - lin

  • Time to Sing - a bit of movement, also a great welcome song
  • Apples and Bananas - I like to do this song with letters on a whiteboard
  • Down on Grandpa's Farm - great for flannel board figures or puppets
  • Tingalayo - fun beat

Kids In Motion - Greg & Steve (CD J782.42 Greg) - great for preschool movement programs

  • The Body Rock - fun - move different body parts a little at a time
  • Animal Action I & Animal Action II - this song gets the kids moving like different animals
  • The Freeze - kids dance until it is time to FREEZE!
  • Beanbag boogie I & II - tells different ways to hold the beanbag and move (if I just had beanbags, maybe one day)
  • Body Talk - softer, directions on smaller movements (move eyebrows, nose, etc.)

 


 

 Singable Songs for the very young - Raffi (CD J782.42 RAFFI) - classic children's album

 

  • Brush Your Teeth - I've used this as a beginning song for my lapsits.  The kids like making the brushing noise.
  • Five Little Frogs - fun as a fingerplay or flannelboard.
  • Mr. Sun - I've done this on rainy days, with CDs I've spraypainted gold.

Whaddaya think of that?- Laurie Berkner ( CD J782.42 BERKNER )- great songs for lapsit/toddler time

  • I've got a chicken - good movement song to use with shakers or scarves
  • We are the dinosaurs - great marching song!
  • These are my glasses - nice song about books and reading.

 

 


 Toddlers Sing - Outrageous Vocals by 2, 3, & 4 Year Olds - children are singing on this CD, so it is a little harder to hear.  However, there are some fun combination songs that would be fun to use in storytime.

  • Itsy Bitsy Spider/It's Raining It's Pouring
  • Engine Engine #9/Down by the Station/Little Red Caboose
  • Catch a Falling Star/Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star

 


 Wiggleworms - Wiggleworms Love You - A Fabulous Album!  Lots of short songs to use, with simple (but not stupid) arrangements, and fine singing voices

  •     When Cats Get Up
  • Little Red Caboose (you can go around the room to this)
  • Clap Your Hands

2 - Bottle Caps - not sure if I would use in a storytime or not, about collections - collecting bottlecaps, rocks, etc.

8- BOOTS - makes a great flannel sing along, would be perfect for a shoe or clothing storytime
 9. - OLeanna - ties several nursery rhymes together with a common chorus, I think it might be fun with a picture sign for each rhyme

10 - Crabs - explores high, middle, and low sounds - 

13 - The Goldfish - would work for a swimming theme, an ocean theme, a fish theme, routine theme, brushing teeth theme, bath theme, bicycle theme

15 - Fruit Salad Salsa - shaker song maybe, fruit/food storytime theme (includes jumping, spinning, )

17 - I Feel Crazy So I Jump in the Soup - jump, swim, gallup, splash, sit- movement theme, soup theme, food theme

18 - Shaking Down the Sugar - might work for a shaker song, music theme (drums, violin, piano, saxophone)  - might be too long
