I had a mixed age group of children - ages 2-9, so I had a variety of stories (some older some younger)

Read:  Q is for Duck by Mary Elting and Michael Folsom (for older children - modification for younger children - choose only a few of the riddles)

Fingerplay:  Elephant

Read:  Zoo Parade! by Harriet Ziefert and Simms Taback (a movement story)

Fingerplay:  Turtle in a box

Read:  Hippo! No Rhino by Jeff Newman - a book with subtle humor - more for older children

Fingerplay:  5 Little Monkeys Swinging in the Tree; Popcorn

Read:  Goodnight Gorilla by Peggy Rathmann
